The Most Heartening Stories aka My Favorite People

Part 3 of my website launch series showcasing the most impactful stories I’ve had the honor to witness. Meeting different people, getting to know the ordinary and extraordinary aspects of their lives, is one of the best parts of my job.

While I was studying at DMJX, one of our classes was web documentary. We paired up and got to pick a topic. My partner, Anna Fritsche, knew we wanted to focus on unconventional ways people build their families.

We found a community of “solo moms” in Copenhagen and were connected with Camilla:

Camilla is someone I admire greatly. She’s a great demonstration of knowing yourself and what you want, taking initiative and having courage to walk a new path, and not being a passive participant in your life.

Before meeting Camilla and Alvin, I had the concept of motherhood very intertwined with a partnership. They showed me how wrong that was. Motherhood is not dependent on a partner; women have plenty of power all by themselves.

All of the stories featured in this series have a common theme, which alludes to the type of work I’ll be focusing on. Can you guess what it is?
